I know it’s a bit pricey. I know it’s a bit of a stroll to get there. But we keep going back to Hudson’s Bar and Grill at the top of Walcot Street.
It’s the steaks. They are just so good, well up to and maybe equalling the New York standard.
We visited last Saturday. Drinks in the bustling bar were pleasant, then upstairs for the main event. Starters were skipped through long experience, though do try the scallops if you are really hungry. Our steaks were the filet mignon (£21.95) and 10 oz prime fillet (£29.95), and they were just, well, melt in the mouth tremendous. They come with a bearnaise sauce and some leafs. Fries are extra, but worth having, being just the right side of floppy.
Desert was a shared ice cream, which rounded off a simple but beautifully cooked and presented meal.
Try it. We have many times, and have never been disappointed.
