The major facelift of the Francis Hotel in Queen Square is expected to include a new Brasserie Blanc Restuarant. This will operate from the what was the Hotel’s original restaurant and piano bar. There will also be a new entrance from Barton Street.
The new restaurant is scheduled to open in May.
Brasserie Blanc has been looking for a site in Bath since 2008 when planners rejected the use of the old Friends Meeting House in York Street.
Sadly the Bath Brasserie Gerard Restaurant has closed with the loss of fourteen jobs. This follows on from the collapse of parent company Paramount Restaurants which went into administration last month.
Some of the 32 restaurants in the chain have transferred to Brasserie Blanc, but the Bath Restaurant was not amongst them.

The Cooler Jazz and Blues Festival 2011 will be running from the 7th to the 16th of October. The venues are mainly pubs and restaurants including the The Market, The Bell, St James Vine Vaults, Komedia, the Royal Oak and Green Park Brasserie.

A new idea for Bath, atCatherines is a essentially a dinner party to bring people together over food in a home environment. Guests bring their own drinks to accompany food cooked by Cat and Kat.
The next event, held in Larkhall will take place onthe 13th of August.

The Walrus and Carpenter restaurant in Barton Street has closed for business after trading since 1974. The reason for the closure in not known, however a note on the door indicated that the premises had been repossessed by the landlord.
The Flavours of the West Food Festival takes place at Milsom Place on Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd of July. There will be regional food, cooking demonstrations, tastings, book signings and many other events. Admission is free.
The first day of the 2011 Bath Coffee Festival on the Rec has been very popular.

Côte Brassiere is due to open at Milson Place, Bath, on the 8th of June. The Parisian themed restaurant will use premises vacated by the Moon and Sixpence.
