Shoppers at Southgate will soon be able to enjoy food and drink along with their retail therapy, as a varied quartet of restaurants and cafes will be opening this summer at the £360-million development.

Multi-cuisine restaurant chain Jimmy Spices and independent shop Cake Cafe are among the new arrivals.

Caffe Nero will open its third outlet in the city, while PizzaExpress will launch a restaurant to complement its Barton Street site.

Cake Cafe is being launched by Poppy Clark and Mark Powell, who have run The Bridge Coffee Shop at Pulteney Bridge since 2008. The shop is to open on the 23rd of June and will specialise in fine cakes, while also serving coffee, baguettes, paninis, soup, quiche and cream teas.

Jimmy Spices, which began in the West Midlands, is a new name for Bath and serves Indian, Chinese, Thai and Italian cuisine served from an open-plan buffet kitchen where you pick and choose the ingredients and the chefs cook them for you on the spot

Jimmy Spices and PizzaExpress have no firm opening dates but will open during the summer. Caffe Nero will serve its first coffee at Southgate on the 18th of June.
